Ingredients
- 4 burger patties
- 8 Hawaiian rolls
- 4 slices American or cheddar cheese, cut in half
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon sesame seeds, optional
- Ketchup, mustard, pickles, or finely diced onions, optional
Directions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a small sheet pan or baking dish with parchment paper or lightly coat it with cooking spray.
- Cook the burgers: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Season both sides of the burger patties with salt and black pepper. Cook for 4–5 minutes on the first side. Flip and cook for another 3–5 minutes, or until the centers reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
- Rest and portion the burgers: Transfer the burgers to a clean cutting board and let them rest for 3–5 minutes. Cut each burger in half to create eight slider-size portions.
- Prepare the rolls: Without separating the individual rolls, use a serrated knife to cut the entire sheet of Hawaiian rolls horizontally. Place the bottom half of the rolls in the prepared pan.
- Build the sliders: Place one burger portion on each roll. Top each with half a slice of cheese. Add a small amount of ketchup, mustard, diced onion, or pickles if desired. Place the top half of the rolls over the filling.
- Season the tops: Combine the melted butter and garlic powder. Brush the mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.
- Bake the sliders: Loosely cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake for 8 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 3–5 minutes, until the cheese has melted and the tops of the rolls are lightly golden.
- Slice and serve: Let the sliders rest for 2 minutes. Cut along the lines of the rolls to separate them, then serve warm.
